I received this email on March 11th, 2008
Good Morning all:
As many of you know, our solar rebate program was not passed by the Board of Supervisors last Tuesday. Instead, the Board decided to send the program back to committee for more discussion. This was disappointing, but we still have other paths forward and will be able to roll out the incentive program this year.
Today (Tuesday), at 12:15 PM, Mayor Newsom and Assessor Ting will announce the immediate implementation of the rebate program. This press announcement will occur at the Bayview YMCA (1601 Lane Street) and we invite you to come hear this announcement and support the announcement.
Mayor Newsom and Assessor Ting recognize that the PUC can implement the rebate program administratively on a year-to-year basis, and they and the PUC intend to begin implemention now. The PUC staff will report to their Commission at its meeting today that the PUC will begin officially accepting rebate applications on April 1. In the meantime, PUC staff will refine application materials and convene another meeting of solar installers to discuss and finalize the application process and eligibility requirements. I will ensure that everyone receiving this email will receive notice of that PUC meeting detailing the application process.
While we will continue our efforts to pass the rebate program on a long-term basis (either through the Board of Supervisors or by the voters), we are commited to getting this solar rebate program initiated now.
We would not be here without your hard work and dedication as a task force and we look forward to more collaboration in the coming days, weeks and months.
Best,
Alissa Pines
